Pep reveals how long Mendy will be sidelined

Pep Guardiola has revealed France International; Benjamin Mendy will be out for three months following after a successful operations was performed on his injured left knee during the International break.

Speaking at the Pre-match press conference ahead of weekend's duel with the Hammers, the City's boss disclosed this horrifying information along with other updates on his squads fitness level.

“Bernardo Silva cannot play this weekend. The injury is not a big one but he cannot play this weekend."

"Otamendi back in training and everybody else is OK. But Mendy will be out for 10 to 12 weeks," Guardiola said.

Mendy missed the majority of last season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Crystal Palace in September 2017, which kept him out for seven months.

This time, Mendy has injured his left knee, getting hurt against Manchester United in City’s last game before the two-week international break, that will rule him out until the commencement of the Knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

This leaves the Premier League leaders without a natural left back for one of the busiest parts of the season, including the hectic period over Christmas.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is going to have to get ceative again at left back and will have to choose from some limited utility in his ranks such as Aymeric Laporte, Fabian Delph and Oleksander Zinchenko.
