Mendy sends comforting message about latest injury blow

Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy has assured supporters he will be back soon following his latest injury setback.

The Manchester City defender withdrew from the France national team squad on Monday afternoon due to a left knee sprain and meniscal lesion.

The French full-back played the full 90 minutes of City's Manchester derby victory on Sunday, but the national side tweeted on Monday afternoon that Mendy had been replaced by his younger brother Ferland Mendy.

The 24-year-old has provided five assists in 11 appearances this campaign, but has already missed seven games with a foot injury.

Manchester has been managing Benjamin Mendy's reoccuring injury situation as the have occasionally ran out of suitable substitutes for the excellent French defender, who is yet to gain full fitness.

However, Mendy remains optimistic the latest injury won't keep him out of action for too long with his latest Instagram post.

The City left-back uploaded a picture of himself alongside Kylian Mbappe along with the caption: "I'll be back asap...".
Mendy missed 43 games for City last season with a cruciate ligament rupture on his knee, and it is the same knee that has ruled him out of France's games with the Netherlands and Uruguay this week.

City will hope the injury is not serious, and that the two week break from domestic action will be enough recovery time before the trip to West Ham on November 24.
