Laporte eyes vengeance against Olympique Lyonnais

Aymeric Laporte says Manchester City will be out for revenge when they take on Lyon in the Champions League.

City began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a home loss against Lyon after conceding twice in the first half through goals from Maxwell Cornet and Memphis Depay, before Bernardo Silva did attempt to restore parity by scoring a late consolation goal that wasn't enough to savage a point for the Cityzens.

However, Lyon are the only side to have gotten all three points from City in any competitive game since April and Laporte admits making up for their September defeat is on his mind.

"After each loss, we want revenge but we're coming up against one of the biggest teams in Europe," Laporte told a news conference.

"What we're going to do is concentrate on ourselves and we're going to focus on the game."

City are aiming to win the Champions League for the first time and Laporte acknowledged success in the competition is a top target for the Cityzens.

"It's obviously an objective," the centre-back added. "I learn day by day and I have Pep's confidence. We continue learning from him to achieve our objectives.

"The Champions League is one of the biggest competitions out there, but it won't be easy for us because we will come across some of the greatest teams in the world.

"Pep wants us to focus on ourselves and work harder and do more. We are coming up against one of the toughest teams, but we must focus on ourselves and do the best we can."
