Goal king believes City can retain domestic honour
Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero feels the mechanisms are in place for the Blues to retain the Premier League title for the first time in the club’s history.
City's Argentine top scorer believe it depends on their zeal and focus that will determine if they can attain repeated success in the toughest league in the world.
“It’s not easy to win the Premier League again, to do it back to back, but in the dressing room I see the same energy, the same attitude as last season in my team-mates, and that makes me feel confident," he told Sky Sports.
“So if we keep doing the same things, keeping focus, I think we have a big chance to win it back to back. We know our style of play, how to press, the build-up and all of the movements because we have been playing together for a long time, and we have almost the same players as last season.
City have made a brilliant start to their title defence, last term having finished 19 points clear of Manchester United, who were the last team to retain the Premier League in 2008-09.
Pep Guardiola's side are still to taste defeat in the league this season, and Aguero says he is confident of keeping the trophy at the Etihad.
“It’s going to depend on us, and if we manage to keep our focus on the goal, we can make it happen.”
City sit top of the table, two points clear of second-placed Liverpool, after outclassing Manchester United with a 3-1 victory before the international break.
Pep's men will continue their title defence mission this weekend, with a trip to the Olympics Stadium to take on West ham United on 24 November.
