City Manager says he is ready for further contract extensions
Pep Guardiola has opened the door to further extending his stay at Manchester City.
The City manager signed a new contract running until 2021 in May after breaking countless records in their Premier League title victory.
Guardiola has been quoted several times as saying he’d like to coach a national team some day, but his focus right now is only on City – and he may extend his contract again!
“I have a contract here and I don’t deny [rule out] if things are going well that I could extend my contract here.”
Speaking about City's chances of becoming the first side in a decade to win back-to-back titles. Pep Guardiola says his focused on the task at hand as he plays down any chance of City going unbeaten through out the season.
“Right now, I am only focused on winning the next game,” Pep said. “If we focus on winning back to back titles, we forget what we need to do. There is no sense in talking about that. Some games we are going to lose and some we will win. Now comes the toughest part of the season.”
Pep’s City face Manuel Pellegrini ‘s West Ham tomorrow and Guardiola recognised the Chilean’s impact at the Etihad.
“Pellegrini helped Manchester City to where we are today – you can recognise his style even if you are a blind man.”
"He started incredibly at Villarreal, put this team on another level. It's a small, small city. The way they played and created and owned the style was impressive"
"When you see the team of Manuel Pellegrini, even if you are a blind guy, you recognise his style. It is always there."
And despite West Ham's rocky form initially this campaign, Guardiola believes their quality will soon shine through.
"He's going to do well at West Ham as well, where there are many, many good supporters."
"The quality is there. You analyse the manager, you analyse the players, it's there," he added. "With a new manager, at the start, it can happen. They started at Anfield and it's obviously complicated, but the quality is there."
Manchester City resume their quest for back-to-back Premier League titles with a match at West Ham on Saturday - hoping to extend the two-point lead they hold over Liverpool in the championship race
