Verratti to Manchester City is a possibility
News from Italy suggests that Pep Guardiola is ‘seriously thinking’ about the 25-year-old Italian superstar.
Having missed out on Jorginho to Chelsea, Manchester City were left wrong footed in their quest to have a stronger grip in the midfield positions but at last their hunt may be concluded, if the can land Paris st Germain's midfield maestro; Marco Verratti.
This comes as an intrigue as head coach Pep Guardiola, initially stipulated he is satisfied with his midfield options at the club but later suggested he would make do if an addition comes before the summer transfer window closes next week.
Manchester City were linked with top quality mid fielders such as Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich and Miralem Pjanic from Juventus but this time attempt to get a deal done with French powerhouse P.S.G, who are in pursuit of Chelsea's Ngolo Kante as a preferred choice in the midfield.
However, for any transfer to happen, TMW reports that Verratti will need to tell the Parisien leaders that he wants a move to the Premier League. At that point, City would make their approach and try to secure one of world football’s elite central midfielders.
Any such top player would command a considerable fee, likely to be in the £70 million plus bracket meaning the club transfer record of £60 on Riyad Mahrez move from Leicester City, may be bound to be broken if the club attempts on a hot pursuit of the young midfielder as their second high profile signing of the summer.
